"Alien: Covenant" actor Michael Fassbender said in an interview that his robot character in the film will be more straightforward.
Fassbender will play two characters in the film. First, is a mysterious android David, who was one of the few surviving members at the end of "Prometheus." He will also double as another android named Walter, Screen Rant reported.
Comparing both characters, the actor said that David and Walter are different in design. Comparing the two, he implied that David is a "work-in-progress" while Walter has a more straightforward quality, Coming Soon reported.
"I think Walter's a real different kettle of fish. David was definitely a work-in-progress, somewhat of a prototype I suppose. The elements of him that were the human elements I think people found a little disturbing, so Walter's more of a straightforward robot. Pretty logical, much more of a servant without the ego," he explains.
It it sounds like Walter is more of a typical android in contrast to David. It should be interesting to see Fassbender's take on contrasting role. In "Prometheus," David's desire to do what he wants brought interesting scenes in the film.
The official synopsis for the film says that David is found by the crew of the colony ship "Covenant" in a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy which is believed to be an uncharted paradise. Creator Ridley Scott said that the planet may have something more to it that meets the eye. He hinted that the characters may be in for a sinister and ominous adventure of the kind.
As for Walter, it is not yet known how he will factor into the story but it appears that the character will be a member of the "Covenant" ship.
