"Suicide Squad" alum Margot Robbie and Will Smith may soon reprise their roles in their own respective movies.

In an interview, director David Ayer confirmed that a movie featuring Harley Quinn with fellow female villains Poison Ivy and Catwoman titled "Gotham City Sirens" is underway. He also confirmed that a spin-off film featuring Will Smith's Deadshot is also in the pipeline, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

Warner Bros. has reportedly given its green light for both projects. Additionally, the studio is also reportedly planning for "Suicide Squad 2."

The move is not surprising considering that Harley Quinn and Deadshot were considered to be the highlight of "Suicide Squad." Critics point out that it makes sense to explore of origins of Deadshot in a separate film because he is the most rounded character in "Suicide Squad."

Talking about the character, Smith said that what drew him to play the role was Deadshot's dubious morals.

"It's a character that hasn't really been explored in cinema. I get to design it and be a part of creating the first round of Deadshot in the history of cinema," he said, Coming Soon reported.

In "Suicide Squad," Harley Quinn and Deadshot became team mates under Task Force X. While the two are on a mission under Amanda Waller's order, the two formed an unlikely bond.

For the uninitiated, Deadshot is known as an adversary of Batman. He is known as the world's deadliest and most accurate marksman. Traditionally, the character was portrayed as a supervillain but recently the character was taken as an antihero.

DC is beefing up its movie line-up for the coming years. "Gothan City Sirens" and the "Deadshot" spin-offs are just two of the many films that DCEU has to offer in the coming years.
