Another project has hit the crowdfunding campaign once again in Kickstarter and this time it has something to do with mystical beasts. Developer Bravemule has asked for a pledge of $8000 USD for to fund their horror adventure game, "Southern Monsters," for it to be released this October.
According to Dualshockers, "Southern Monsters" is all about a teenager who is fascinated with these mystical beasts (or cryptids, as they are technically called) and is very much connected to the internet. The hero's name (or, rather, forum name) is "cripplefoot" and, as the name suggests, he's handicapped and has a fascination with Big Foot. The goal of the game is to help the teen make sense of the harsh realities of the real world and to seek the monster stalking the wilderness of the South Arkansas creeks.
Developer Bravemule describes the "Southern Monsters" to be a "choice based interactive fiction" and the teenager's computer and internet skills will be essential to the story. Cripplefoot moderates forums based around the theme of cryptids and uses the internet to research and find these creatures.
Players are also tasked to sustain cripplefoot's health and overall well-being from getting too obsessed with his beast-seeking quest.
The Steam Greenlight page also did a breakdown of "Southern Monsters'" features:
This unique game has already begun its funding and is already at 70% in development with 26 days left to go. The developers haven't had recent updates on the game regarding any stretch goals, but they did hint at the possibility of having "Southern Monsters" being ported to mobile devices.
Anyway, here's the trailer of the game from Kickstarter since there hasn't been any YouTube videos out yet.
