BOYS24 member Hwayoung will now have to face the consequences of his rude remarks against K-Pop fans as CJ E&M confirmed they are kicking out the idol from the boy group.
Just last week, Hwayoung caused outrage among K-Pop fans after he supposedly expressed his disgust towards them. The BOYS24 member was caught red-handed for saying how he hates interacting with fans and even mocked how they smell.
Koreaboo cited his comments were captured in an audio clip that was uploaded by an anonymous perpetrator. In the leaked audio file, Hwayoung can be heard throwing explicit words in conveying his thoughts about K-Pop fans.
"I like being called oppa, not when I hear it from fans though. I [explicit] hate that. Ya, [explicit]. It's so annoying when we do the Hi-Touch," the BOYS24 member said, referring to aftershow interaction with fans.
He continued, "Like when you hold hands and greet fans after the concert is over. Everyday I go through like 700 to 800 people and I feel like I'm going to puke. Their [explicit] breath smells like [explicit]."
After the controversy broke, CJ E&M immediately apologized on behalf of the idol and promised to take necessary action. On Tuesday, the agency confirmed they have decided to remove Hwayoung from BOYS24.
On top of that, CJ E&M also terminated the contract of the idol. In an official dispatch, the label said that they are concern that Hwayoung's act might affect the image of BOYS24. Hence, they have decided to kick him out of the group.
The agency ended their statement with an apology to fans who were hurt by Hwayoung's statement. On the other hand, a netizen, who claimed to be the original uploader of the audio clip, stated the file was edited.
According to Allkpop, the alleged uploader posted its statement in an online community a day before CJ E&M released their official decision. In a post, the unknown netizen claimed to be a friend of Hwayoung's ex-girlfriend.
"I asked him questions and led him to answer it in such negative ways and after multiple attempts I edited the recordings to make it seem like one long recording," the unknown netizen said.
Despite the claim, many K-Pop fans are not convinced with the statement posted by the alleged uploader. Some of the even think that Hwayoung was the person behind the dispatch.
