"Uncontrollably Fond" is receiving much love from Chinese people amid dispute between China and South Korea over THAAD deployment. In fact, Suzy and Kim Woo Bin's drama surpassed 4 billion views in the neighboring country at the end of 2016.
According to Allkpop, the Korean drama has been viewed over 4.1 billion times on Youku, one of China's biggest video streaming sites. The milestone of "Uncontrollably Fond" almost matched "Descendants of the Sun's" record of 4.44 billion views.
The 20-part series follows the love story of Shin Joon Young (Kim Woo Bin) and No Eul (Suzy) who got separated for years after an unfortunate accident. Over the years, Kim Woo Bin has become Korea's top star, while Suzy works as a documentary producer.
In a previous interview, the miss A member admitted the atmosphere between her and Kim Woo Bin was awkward at the beginning. However, Suzy added all her worries disappeared when they started filming for "Uncontrollably Fond."
"It was awkward initially, but after a certain point, he became Shin Joon Young to me. He was also very considerate on set," the singer-actress said as per Soompi.
For "Uncontrollably Fond," Kim Woo Bin would often ask for Suzy's opinion about his acting. The model-turned-actor shared he worried about disappointing the viewers, particularly female audience.
"While on set, I would ask Suzy a lot of questions. Guys will like Suzy no matter what she does, but for me, it's a hit or miss," he said.
Although the melodrama made a good start with a two-digit viewership rating, "Uncontrollably Fond" rather failed to maintain the figures until it ended. Despite that, Kim Woo Bin emphasized what the project meant for him.
The 27-year-old celebrity admitted it would have been better if they performed well in terms of ratings; however, Kim Woo Bin said he was not disappointed with the outcome of "Uncontrollably Fond."
