Niantic has just released the latest update (0.33.0 Android, 1.3.0 iOS) for Pokémon Go, and one of the key features of the new version is the introduction of a new tracking system for Pokémon.

With the latest update, some users can see the Nearby tracking feature while others can see the Sightings tracker instead. Both tracking systems are currently being beta tested after several complaints from angry Pokémon Go players, according to Attack of the Fanboy.

Those players who have received the Sightings feature with the new update can see which Pokémon are currently in their area and is kind of similar to the tracker Niantic introduced earlier - the one without the steps/footprint.

Like the previous tracker, the Sightings tracking system simply shows a list of nearby Pokémon standing in front of blades of grass, which means that the Pokémon are currently in the wild and players have no way of determining how close the creatures are or which direction one must travel towards in order to catch them, according to CNET.

Unlike the Sightings feature, the Nearby tracker is actually helpful when it comes to finding and capturing nearby Pokémon. The Nearby tracker displays a list of Pokémon that are in close proximity to the Pokémon trainer's location as well as Pokémon that are located near Pokestops in the neighborhood, allowing users to hunt them down.

Once player opens the Nearby tracker, they need to tap on the Pokémon they wish to track before selecting the View button, wherein it'll give them an overhead map view of the Pokestop it is currently near. If the Pokémon leaves the location before they reach it, gamers will receive a notification that reads, "The Pokemon fled! Check the nearby list for other Pokemon."
