"Homeland" Season 6 is still happening after all, but instead of a 2016 fall premiere, Showtime has decided to set the "Homeland" Season 6 premiere date to January 2017. The sixth season is set to capitalize on the US elections and will focus on the events that take place at the time that a new leader takes over.

However, it remains to be seen if Carrie Mathison can leave her daughter home and come back to the CIA. The Morning Ledger reported that Claire would not want to go back to CIA after getting married because of her daughter Frannie. Moreover, the said report also stated that the upcoming season will still see Claire under medication.

However, Claire will mentally stable, despite the guilt that she carries on her shoulders. This stability is attributed to her becoming a mother and having Frannie in her life. Season six is said to show Claire living a normal family life with her daughter Frannie.

In a report from Variety, executive producer and actress Claire Danes Carrie Mathison will be in a better place mentally in Season 6. She will be working in the U.S. as an advocate for Muslims who have experienced mistreatment at the hands of domestic law enforcement. This would be seen as a natural outgrowth of her disillusionment with the CIA and the tactics she have seen being employed in the war on terror.

"She's advocating on behalf of Muslims who have been unjustly accused and unfairly treated, but I think she has a bigger agenda that she's not admitting to fully," Danes said.

On the other hand, also Variety reported other things viewers should expect on the upcoming sixth season. One of which is the fact that Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) is most definitely alive, despite his apparent demise at the end of season five.

"Homeland" Season 6 will also show a US with a female president, clearly a reference to the fact that an actual female candidate is a nominee of a major political party, a first in the US election history. Elizabeth Keane, the show's president-elect character played by Elizabeth Marvel, was a junior senator from New York. But this does not mean that she is a Hillary Clinton clone.

"She's a little bit Hillary, a little bit Donald Trump, a little bit Bernie Sanders," Gansa said.

"Homeland" is an Emmy-award winning political drama series from premium cable channel Showtime. Claire Danes stars as Carrie Mathison which have won her two Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, two Golden Globe Award for Best Actress - Television Series Drama, and the Television Critics Association Award for Individual Achievement in Drama.
