Movie adaptations of video games are beginning to show its potential to flourish nowadays. In the case of Mojang's "Minecraft," it seems to be case. The latest reports reveal that actor Steve Carell is already being considered to star in the upcoming Warner Bros. "Minecraft" movie.
According to Variety, we still don't what role Carell will take in film adaptation of the "Minecraft" franchise. So far, Warner still hasn't made any further remarks on the casting yet.
It's no rush, however, since the movie is still a long way off from the actual release. Around June this year, Mojang actually planned the "Minecraft" movie's release date to be May 24, 2019.
The "Minecraft" franchise itself has already been made known to just about everyone. Of course, if it's going to be a movie about that popular franchise, the game's studio Mojang is sure to be involved with the development of the movie. What they - and Warner Bros. - hope to achieve is to capture the same feeling audiences had with "Jurassic World," according to IGN.
In terms of helming the film, Rob McElhenney of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is reported to be in charge of the "Minecraft" film adaptation, as well as writing it. We can be safe to say that the film will be fun for both adults and children, especially McElhenney and Carell around.
In other news, earlier reports claim that there had already been a Minecraft movie called "The Birth of Man," albeit being made by fans. The movie, however, gained notoreity since Mojang went in shut the entire project down since it used the "Minecraft" IP since the fan producers didn't ask permission from the studio itself.
