Executive producer Eric Kripke denied any potential romantic storyline happens between Lucy and Wyatt in "Timeless." Instead, he confirmed that the time travellers have a more colorful life in the midseason.
Kripke teased a bit of spoilers for "Timeless" in a recent interview, ahead of the release of the midseason premiere on Jan. 16. He talked about Lucy (Abigail Spencer) and Wyatt's (Matt Lanter) future as a likely couple in the second half of the season.
Unfortunately, fans who want to see the partners become romantically involved are in for bad news. Kripke denied that Lucy and Wyatt go beyond just friends in the midseason.
"I don't think they're going to be hooking up any time soon," Kripke told TV Line.
Regardless, a "sexual tension" develops between Lucy and Wyatt. The producer revealed that the kiss they shared in "Timeless" episode 9, "Last Ride of Bonnie & Clyde," stirred something.
"I think that first kiss kind of awoke something that was subconscious before that in both of them," Kripke further told the publication.
To recap, episode 9 saw Lucy and Wyatt kiss after Bonnie saw the large ring on Lucy's finger. Bonnie mistook them as a couple. Turned out the engagement ring is not from Wyatt, but from Lucy's real fiancé. She forgot to remove it before they travelled to the past (See video below).
Since that kiss, Lucy and Wyatt have been acting strange towards each other. "Timeless" episode 9 ended with a tease that they could become romantically involved in the midseason. However, Kripke clearly squashed this assumption in his interview.
Meanwhile, the midseason of "Timeless" returns with more updates about Rittenhouse. According to Cartermatt, Flynn believes that Lucy is the key to ending the reign of the organization. However, by kidnapping Lucy, Flynn only makes himself a wanted man by Rufus and Wyatt.
