South Korean actress Kim Ji Won is now considered a Hallyu star after reaching 1 million flowers on China's version of Twitter, Weibo.
The 23-year-old actress took to her account on the microblogging site to express her gratitude to her fans and followers. Kim shared a video, where she can be seen happily saying, "Thank you for helping me reach the 1 million mark. I'm so happy and I promise to work harder in the future. Thank you!"
Kim reaching the 1 million mark is extremely impressive given that her Weibo account was only made four months ago. Moreover, to be considered a Hallyu star is of extreme importance as this refers to the top celebrities in South Korea.
The young actress shot to fame for her role in the 2013 SBS drama, The Heirs, and achieved her Hallyu star status for her portrayal of Yoon Myung-ju in the romantic drama hit, Descendants of the Sun.
Due to Kim Ji Won's rise in popularity, she has made a name for herself in China, and recently concluded her first fan signing in the country.
In other news, it appears the Kim Ji Won and her opposite in Descendants of the Sun Jin Goo will play the lead roles in the drama's second season as the lead stars Song Joong-Ki and Song Hye-Kyo will reportedly not be reprising their roles.
There are speculations that the storyline of Season 2 will focus on Kim and Jin since just like the main stars, they were also well loved by viewers and their love scenes made fans sizzle with romance.
